The elevator is lined in buffalo leather, protected by a brass gate, and services all three floors of the mansion. Although some areas of the mansion are only accessible by climbing a few stairs, guests have the option of taking the elevator whenever possible. The elevator works as efficiently today as it did when it was installed in 1926.
