The Porte Cochere
As you approach the mansion from the west through the Porte Cochere, notice the sculptures under each inside corner. Italian stone carver, Pelligrini, created the likenesses of Mr. Marland’s four dogs, carving them in place without the use of drawings or clay models.

On the windows flanking the porte cochere entrance is wrought iron grill work featuring dogs’ heads at the top. This pattern is repeated on many of the mansion’s windows.
