Since ancient times, humans have been intrigued by angels. Angels represent messengers of God, are present in all religions and have appeared in artwork and architecture through the ages.

The artists of the Marland Mansion have depicted many varieties of angels. Some are rich in detail, others are formed in stone, still others are carved into wood furniture.

The dining room sconces feature cherubs in Sheffield silver plate.

This friendly cherub graces the doors of the hand carved oak armoire located in the dining room.
Colorful angels abound in the 24 karat gold leaf mosaic ceiling located above the stairwells leading to the gallery level.

 

This friendly Guardian Angel greets guests from the lobby into Marland's Reception room.
